Making the Transition
Students undergo continuous transitions as they move from high school to college and beyond.
In an effort to provide on-going support, professional staff are available to hold regular individual meetings with students in each class. These meetings are a helpful way to monitor our students' performance, both inside and beyond the classroom.
For those who are entering the University as first-year students, we also hold a Pre-Orientation Program just prior to the onset of the academic year.
Several mentoring programs operate as well during the year to support first-year students in successfully adapting to our University community. Both the Mentor Alliance Program and the Peer Advisors and Mentors Program connect first-year students with either faculty and staff, or upper-level students.
